House Hunters But For Real

You’ve most likely seen the TV show, House Hunters, and you most likely know that it’s all staged after the house is actually bought and they backtrack on showing the buyer other homes. We finished this project in the fall and it was an actual house hunters adventure. The buyers approached us about wanting to find a place to live in Meridian Kessler so we connected them to our trusted F.C. Tucker, real estate partner, Jason Sciortino, who showed them numerous houses on the market. They found this property but it was lacking all the updates and style that they wanted in a home. We worked up construction numbers prior to closing that we both felt comfortable with and then after closing, we got busy remodeling.

Although the kitchen was probably remodeled within the last 5-10 years, it didn’t utilize the space well and the very small eat in nook didn’t flow very well to the dining room. We opened up the wall into the dining room more and used the eat in nook for more functional kitchen space that included a larger peninsula for a great family style kitchen/living space.

Removing the window and using that wall for the range helped provide more usable wall space while still providing the open concept.

We actually closed off the back portion to create some visual separation from the kitchen to mudroom but still lets them feel open.

A budget friendly way to add custom touches to manufactured cabinets is to order extra doors to create a panel affect on the back of cabinets like this peninsula.

We did build a custom run of bar area cabinets and floating shelves with a distressed stain finish and inset doors. Full height backsplash from South Cypress really make this wall stand out!

Moving upstairs, we took a chopped up master bathroom and 2nd floor exterior balcony and rearranged the space to create a more open master suite with lots of closet storage.

Existing Shower

We moved the vanity to where the shower was since the entry was crowded. We shifted the toilet into a water closet which was the exterior balcony.

Furniture style vanity is a great way to bring depth to a space while also staying budget friendly.

With the additional square footage gained from the old deck, we were able to move the shower back into the old closet space and create a nice open corner style shower with Delta Cassidy fixtures and custom glass by Northside Glass.

California Closets did another fantastic job of maximizing the space in the new closet U shape.

We refinished the hardwood flooring throughout the entire home and repainted the majority of the walls, ceilings, and trim.

We’re grateful for another customer trusting us from purchase to completed remodel and are thrilled with the finished results.
